Privacy policy

This website is deliberately simple. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads nothing from other servers: fonts and images are hosted here. This policy explains the little personal data that is still processed.

Who is responsible

The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

Martin Kulawik
Chodowieckistr. 40
10405 Berlin, Germany
Email: mk@martinkulawik.de

Hosting and server log files

This website runs on a server hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. When you visit, the server automatically records technical information that your browser sends: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser and operating system.

This is necessary to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is the secure operation of the website. IP addresses in the log files are anonymised when the logs are rotated each day, and the log files are deleted after seven days. STRATO processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement according to Art. 28 GDPR.

Encryption

The website is served over TLS (HTTPS), so data travelling between your browser and the server cannot be read by third parties.

Links to Amazon

The buttons for buying the book are ordinary links to Amazon. No data is sent to Amazon until you click one. Once you are on Amazon’s website, Amazon’s privacy policy applies.

Contacting us by email

If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your message relates to a contract, and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR otherwise. We delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for your place of residence or for our place of business.
